LOCATION OF THE WESTERN WARSAW COUNTY
The location of the Western Warsaw County makes it one of the most interesting regions in Poland. Its situation in the central part of the Mazovian Province, behind the western boundary of Warsaw ensures perfect conditions for its economic development. In turn, the close location of the big Kampinos Forest makes it a popular place for weekend relaxation among numerous tourists from Warsaw and nearby locations. The county’s area is 533 km2. It is inhabited by more than 100,000 people. The county consists of three urban-village communes, Łomianki, Błonie and Ożarów Mazowiecki, and four village communes, Izabelin, Kampinos, Leszno and Stare Babice. Two major roads run through the county, road no. 2 (E-30) Warsaw - Poznań, which goes further to Berlin and road no. 7 (E-77) Gdańsk - Warsaw - Kraków, and the railway main line Moscow - Berlin.
Błonie commune, which has an area of 85.84 km2, is an urban-village commune located in the Łowicko-Błońska Plain. The town of Błonie is located 11 km away from Grodzisk Mazowiecki and 27 km away from Warsaw, on the railway line Berlin-Warsaw-Moscow. The river Utrata - tributary of Bzura runs through the lands of commune. Most of inhabitants make for their living mainly from agriculture. (6987 ha - area of individual farms), however, the commune is also an important industrial centre, because of Precision and Mechanical Plants, producing devices to the computers and elements of industrial automatics. The commune is one of the oldest in the country. To the visitors we recommend visiting early-medieval city from 11th-12th century, situated 2km away from Błonie town.
The next commune Izabelin, of an area of 49 km2, is situated 11km away from Ożarów Mazowiecki and 20km from Warsaw, on the periphery of Kotlina Warszawska.
Kampinos Commune, of an area of 84,2 km2, is situated on the borderland of Łowicko-Błońska Plan and Kotlina Warszawska. Kampinos is situated 30 km from Grodzisk Mazowiecki and 41 km from Warsaw. The river Utrata - tributary of Bzura, runs through the lands of commune.
The other village commune, Leszno, of an area of 125 km2, is situated on the periphery of Łowicko-Błońska Plain. Leszno is situated 7 km from Błonie and 31 km from Warsaw; at the crossword of national roads Warsaw-Sochaczew and Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki- Błonie.
Łomianki is an urban-village commune, its area is 38,1 km2, it is istuated in Kotlina Warszawska. It is 14 km from Warsaw, and 18km from Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki. The road E-77 goes through the commune lands (Warsaw-Gdańsk).
Ożarów Mazowiecki Commune, of an area of 71,4 km2, is an urban-village commune, situated on Łowicko-Błońska Plain. Ożarów Mazowiecki is situated 11 km from Pruszków and 16km from Warsaw. The road E-30 runs through the community land (Warsaw-Poznań) and railway line Warsaw-Sochaczew.
The village commune Stare Babice, of an area of 105,3 km2, is situated on the borderland of Łowicko-Błońska and Warszawska Plain. Stare Babice are situated 5 km from Ożarów Mazowiecki and 14 km from Warsaw.
